To get the most accurate results from your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) test, it’s important to follow these simple steps:
Arrive fasting: Do not eat or drink anything (except water) for at least 4–6 hours before your test.
Avoid stimulants: Skip caffeine (coffee, tea, energy drinks) and nicotine for at least 4 hours prior.
Rested body, rested mind: Avoid strenuous exercise or intense physical activity for 24 hours before testing.
Stay relaxed: Try to arrive calm and rested. Stress, rushing, or lack of sleep can affect your results.
Comfortable clothing: Wear relaxed, comfortable clothes so you can sit or recline quietly during the test.

The RMR test is quick and simple, usually taking about 15–20 minutes of relaxed breathing. We’ll ask you to sit or recline in a comfortable position while breathing naturally into the device. The entire appointment, including setup and review of your results, typically lasts about 30 minutes.
